OVERVIEW
Composite veneers sometimes referred to as Direct veneers, is a cosmetic dental procedure done in one visit and is sculpted at the time of placement. With this treatment, the composite resin, made of the same material used for tooth-colored dental fillings/restorations, is applied in layers to the tooth and sculpted to improve the size, shape, length, form, and color of the teeth. Each layer of composite resin is hardened using a curing light.Â
It is common for a small amount of tooth structure to be removed to allow space for the placement of the composite resin. This is to avoid making the teeth look bulky! In most cases, composite veneers are more conservative of the tooth structure as fewer amounts of the tooth structure are needed to be removed.
This type of veneer provides a life-like, beautiful appearance that can last for 5 to 10 years depending on the patient’s oral health and maintenance.
Advantages
- Can be done in a single visit
- Can be done with less tooth preparation
- Affordable
Disadvantages
- Not as durable as porcelain veneers and requires more care as they are more likely to chip.
- Tend to stain more easily.

ABOUT VENEERS & CROWNS
Frequently Asked Questions
Direct veneers are made from a high-quality composite resin, which is a tooth-colored material specifically designed for dental restorations. This material is carefully sculpted and polished directly on the tooth to achieve a natural appearance, while providing strength and aesthetic enhancement.
The number of teeth treated typically depends on how many teeth are visible when you smile, which is usually the upper front 6 to 10 teeth. Your dentist will recommend the ideal number to ensure a balanced, symmetrical, and natural-looking smile.
With proper care and maintenance, direct veneers typically last 2 to 3 years, but they can last longer with good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups.
Direct veneers require minimal tooth preparation, preserving most of your natural tooth structure. This makes it a conservative and effective option for enhancing your smile.
Direct veneers are ideal for patients who want to improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, discolored, uneven, or slightly misaligned. They are also suitable for closing small gaps and enhancing the overall shape and symmetry of the smile.
